Obituary

Kassandra "Kitty" Carroll Crawford-Liutkus May 18th, 1989 – July 30th, 2025 (36 Years Old)

On July 30th, 2025, the stars shimmered a little brighter, and the earthly realm lost one of its most radiant souls. Kassandra "Kitty" Carroll Crawford-Liutkus of Augusta, GA, took her final bow on this stage and crossed into the next act one filled, we hope, with all of the animals to snuggle, libraries that stretch to the clouds, and endless craft and painting projects to express her creativity. She was 36 years young, but lifetimes old in wisdom, whimsy, and wonder. Kitty fought a five-year battle with adult-onset diabetes, pancreatitis, and hypertension wielding her trademark courage, stubborn charm, and a sense of humor that could light up even the darkest waiting room.

She was never one to go quietly; instead, she lived and departed with style, sparkle, and deep, heartfelt intention. To try and capture her essence in mere words is like bottling moonlight or painting the wind. But if you knew her, you knew this: she was a constellation in motion. She was a painter of strange beauty, a musician fluent in more instruments than most people can master, an avid devourer of books, a student of law with a fierce heart for children and justice, and a protector of all things furry, feathered, lost, or unloved. Animal rescue wasn't just a passion for Kitty; it was her form of magic. Stray dogs, abandoned cats, wayward souls she loved and welcomed them all with open arms and a loving heart.

A graduate of Augusta Tech's Associate paralegal program, she had big plans to further her education, and was forging a path into child advocacy law, determined to wield her intellect like a sword for the voiceless. Her experience in the foster care system fanned the flames of her passion to ensure that other children did not have to share similar experiences to her upbringing. Kitty always gave freely: her time, her shoulder to cry on, her wisdom, and her unshakable belief in people's potential. Whether you needed a friend, an advocate, or a hug (or all three), she was your girl. She walked into your life like a firefly storm, soft and brilliant, and left a trail of glow behind.

She is survived by her husband Anthony Liutkus, her father, Greg Crawford, her siblings Chris Crawford, Woodrow Crawford, Becca Sasser, and Zane Pedersen, and a constellation of loved ones, kindred spirits, and grateful creatures, both two- and four-legged, who will miss her fiercely.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at noon on Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grovetown, GA. All are welcome. If you knew Kitty; you know she wouldn't want a day of mourning; she'd want a story shared, a laugh echoed, and maybe a rescue animal or two adopted in her name.
