JoLee
Long
March 6, 2026
Oak Grove Baptist Church
6:00 - 7:00 pm (Eastern time)
JoLee Compton Long, a beautiful mother, grandmother, and woman of extraordinary faith in God, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026 at the age of 73.
JoLee was born in Okinawa, Japan, and moved with her family to Hephzibah, GA, at a young age. She attended Hephzibah High School, where she was captain of the cheerleading team and crowned homecoming queen.
JoLee found great joy in honoring God by singing in the choir and devoting her time to Central Baptist Church as a volunteer in the nursery under her lifelong pastor, Rev. Jerry Wilson.
Her career spanned over 30 years, working for and eventually retiring from the State of Georgia.
One of JoLee’s greatest titles was that of mother and grandmother, and she found great joy in her family.
Her friends and family knew her to have the ability to keep a room laughing and on their toes. When she wasn’t making others laugh, JoLee loved watching the Braves play baseball. JoLee had a heart for giving and regularly devoted her time to helping those in need.
JoLee was preceded in death by her parents, William and Joyce Compton, and her sister, Angela Ogle. She is survived by her son, Mark Long; her three grandchildren, Riley Long (Raegan), Adyson Long, and Josie Long; her brother, Bill Compton (Rita); her nephew David and her nieces, Jessica, Rebecca, and Alicia.
A memorial service will be held on April 15, 2026 from 6:00 until 7:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church 3880 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30909.
