John (Peter) Wilson, retired truck driver and Army Veteran of 12 years, entered into rest on August 31st, 2022, at the age of 66, at UNC Hospital Chapel Hill. John was born in Augusta, GA on November 13th, 1955. He graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School and served in the U. S Army from 1973 until 1985. John lived his life to its fullest befriending people coast to coast.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Johnka Wilson; His parents, David and Lily Wilson; His brother, Davis Jones; and His sisters, Ada Evans and Daisy Mae Williams. John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley Wilson; His children, Serena Taylor, Caronda Rucker, Travares Mack, and Janelle Wilson; His grandchildren, Sophia and Aaron Taylor, LaMontrez and Cyeena Rucker,  and Javon Jones and Mikeal Mack; His Great-granddaughter, Bailey Taylor; His siblings, Marjorie(Aileen) Bates, Willie Wilson, Sr., Henry Wilson, and James Wilson; His in-laws, Dorothy Wilson, and Anna and Herman Hallman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, September 9th, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907, with interment immediately following at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, GA 30815. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to service time.
