John Owen Royals Jr, 80, of Lincolnton passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025.

John was born on November 13, 1944 in Atlanta, Ga to John Owen Royals, Sr and Ora Belle Royals. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1962 and married his wife of 59 years, Pearl Anderson, in 1965. John was a proud US Army Veteran, serving his country in Vietnam. He loved to hunt back in the day. John was always a joker; he had lots and lots of funny sayings that made everyone laugh. He will deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Butler & Barbara Carter.

Along with his wife John had two daughters, Deonne O Royals (Calcari), husband at death Cullen and Dora A Royals (Sparks), husband Joel.  Dede (Deonne) passed in January 2021. They have 4 grandchildren (Kayla Kossak (Rafe), Cody Sparks, Matthew Krawcyk & Molly Krawcyk. One great granddaughter, Sadie Sparks, who was such a bright little light for him.  He has many many honorary daughters, sons and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Thomas L. King Funeral Home Chapel.
