John E. Moser, Jr., age 90, died Tuesday, 1 April 2025, at Eisenhower Medical Center, Ft. Eisenhower, Georgia. Burial will take place at Bellevue Memorial Cemetery at a future date. He was born Dec 1, 1934, in Essex, Missouri to John E. Moser, and Pauline Beatrice (Collins) and was the oldest of 5 children.
John grew up in Sikeston, Missouri, where his father farmed cotton, soy beans, and wheat. He helped plant with a horse-drawn two-row planter until they got a 4-row planter pulled by a tractor. He attended college in Rolla School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri, where he studied Electrical Engineering. Following college, he joined the Army Signal Corp where he became an instrument calibrator. He met his wife, Opal (Conger), at a small diner in Rolla, Missouri. They married on Feb 1, 1960, and had four children together. He served with honor in the Army for 24 years and lived in New Jersey, Alabama, Oklahoma, Germany, France, Maryland, another tour in Germany, Colorado, and Japan before he retired and settled in the Augusta, Georgia area. He stayed busy at various jobs following retirement. John was very resourceful and could fix about anything. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and building around his property. He once painted a car using a vacuum cleaner.
John was preceded in death by his parents and wife, as well as siblings Leroy Moser and Trudy Jane Hillyard. He is survived by his children John Keith Moser, Trudy Blessing (Ray), Fred Moser, and Gina Boehmer (Mark), as well as his brother James Albert Moser and sister Shirley Jean Duke. Grandchildren are Rocky (Heather) and Matthew (Taylor), children of Trudy & Ray Blessing; Juanita Marie and John Eddie, children of Fred and Genedine Moser; and Brian Bamer (Elizabeth Day), Amy Lee (Phillip), and Karen Schmertmann (Brennen), children of Gina & Mark Boehmer. Additionally, he had 12 great grandchildren.
