Obituary

John Edward Cravenho, 78, died peacefully at his home in Augusta, GA on May 13, 2026. He was born April 12, 1948, in Easton, MA to George Cravenho and Mary Varella Cravenho.

John served in the United States Navy from 1969–1970 as a seaman apprentice.

John received a B.A. degree from Providence College, earned his MBA from St. John’s University in New York, and completed postgraduate studies in computer systems and finance at New York University Stern School of Business, the Executive Finance program at Harvard and Rutgers University Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

He carried that education into a distinguished global career. John held financial management positions while based in Singapore, London, and New York and conducting business in over 30 countries. His experience spanned asset management, cash management consulting, international banking, and business development. His career included roles as Managing Director of Excel Consulting, Director of Hedge Fund Strategies at ING, International Deputy Director First National Bank of Chicago, SVP at Dean Witter Financial Services, and Vice President at JP Morgan Chase.

He took pride in serving as advisor to the audit and finance committees of the Board of Directors at Jazz at Lincoln Center. He served as a board member and chairman of the membership committee of Philadelphia Association for Financial Professionals. He was a member of the membership committee at the Economics Club of New York, and a member of the Housatonic Boat Club and Fayerweather Yacht Club.

John enjoyed spending summers on Cape Cod, MA, traveling around the world, sailing expeditions, playing racquetball and pickleball, listening to live jazz, gardening, pet and house-sitting adventures, and so many more of life’s pleasures. Above all, he took most pride in his “legacy”, his four children: his son Colin John Cravenho of Brooklyn, NY, his daughter Leah Gillian Cravenho of Brooklyn, NY, his daughter Morgan Kranston Cravenho of Brooklyn, NY, and his son Ean Edward Cravenho of Charleston, SC.

He was preceded in death by his late brother and late sister-in-law George and Elaine Cravenho, and late brother-in-law Frederick P. Little Jr. John is survived by his wife, Mary Masi of Augusta, GA, his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Sandra Cravenho of Venice, FL, his sister Mary Ann Cravenho-Little of Dennis, MA, his brother David Cravenho and his partner John Bonanni of Yarmouth, MA, his children Colin, Leah, Morgan, and Ean, step-children Alexander Masi, Michael Masi, Anna Mae Masi, Jack Beck, step-grandchild Theodore Beck, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to John’s wife, Mary Masi, for her loving care, which allowed his last chapter of life to be comfortable and peaceful.

Please consider making donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. A sailor at heart, John will be honored with a United States Navy burial at sea.
