Jesse Thomas Hornsby, Sr., 70, of Blythe, Georgia entered into rest on August 13, 2022. He joined his father, Elbert, his mother, Myrtis, his brothers, Billy and Milton, and his best friend, Olen. Jesse was a dedicated public servant for nearly four decades and served 24 years as the Chief of Police for the city that he loved the most, Blythe. Jesse loved fishing, camping and Nascar, but above all, he loved his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Johnson Hornsby, and his boys, Jesse T. Hornsby, Jr. (Angela) and William Lee Hornsby (Nicole). He also loved his grandsons, brothers, sister, other extended family members, and friends. Jesse was a man of all trades and had a personality that left a lasting impression. While he will be truly missed, he is now patrolling the streets of gold and without a doubt, issuing speeding citations. The family will receive friends Friday, August 19, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 10:30am at Thomas L. King Funeral Home with interment immediately following at West View Cemetery, 2051 Division Street, Augusta, GA 30904. Pallbearers include Nathan Beaudin, Kevin McKinney, Glen Rahn, Chris Langford, Clay Smith, Brandon Schrumpf and Hugh Sykes. Honorary pallbearers include members of law enforcement and employees from the City of Blythe. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Georgia Cancer Center,  the Inpatient Oncology Unit and MICU at Augusta University.
