IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Troy
Walden Sr.
December 22, 1954 – July 30, 2025
James Troy "Troy" Walden, Sr. entered into rest on July 30, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 22, 1954, Troy lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength, and a deep love for family, music, and storytelling.
For a brief time, Troy served in the United States Navy. He later pursued his passion for music as a disc jockey for a local radio station, bringing joy to listeners through his voice and curated selections under the name Troy James. He worked for many years at the Graniteville Company, where he was known for his dependability and steady work ethic. Troy eventually found a lasting place at the Medical College of Georgia, where he served faithfully until his retirement.
A longtime member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, Troy's faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He had a deep passion for radio, music, playing the drums and guitar, and singing. An avid CB and HAM radio enthusiast, Troy connected with people near and far through the airwaves. He traveled throughout the local area to play at churches, events, and other community venues, and was known for his heartfelt performances of gospel, country, and rock and roll. He passed his love of music on to his children and grandchildren, and more importantly, instilled in them a strong love for God through his music and personal devotion to the Lord.
Troy was also an avid photographer. He worked extensively with film photography, even maintaining a development studio at home. As the industry shifted, he continued his craft through digital photography, preserving his passion for capturing life's moments with creativity and care. He was passionate about photographing nature, cemeteries, and what was most important to him: his family and friends.
Troy was born to John Roy Walden and Lucille Guy Walden, and grew up surrounded by a close-knit family. On April 22, 1977, he married the love of his life, June Juanita Walden, and together they shared 48 years of marriage marked by devotion and deep affection. Their marriage was the epitome of enduring love, shaped by faith, perseverance, and mutual devotion. Together, they reflected the steadfast love and security found in Christ Jesus for His beloved Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Roy Walden, his mother, Lucille Guy Walden, his brother, Aaron Bennet "Benny" Walden, his sister, Carolyn Frazier, and his nephew, Eric L. Frazier.
He is survived by his beloved wife, June Juanita Walden; his three sons, Mr. Derrick Gregg Walden, Mr. James Troy Walden, Jr., (Brittany), and Dr. Aaron Guy Walden, Sr., (Tiffany). He is also survived by his grandchildren: grandsons Aaron Guy Walden, Jr., Kaleb Grogan, and Strykker Holmes, and granddaughters Ella Grace Walden and Amy Walden. Additional surviving family members include his niece, Marcia Frazier Jiminez, (William), and his nephew, Mark L. Frazier, (Nikki), and many great nieces and nephews.
Troy will be cremated, in accordance with his and his family's wishes.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 3880 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30909. The family will be present to briefly greet friends and loved ones in the sanctuary shortly before the service begins. The memorial will be officiated by his son, Dr. Aaron Guy Walden, Sr.
