James Mercer, 79, of Evans, passed away on May 12, 2026. 

He was a hardworking man and loved his family. He retired after serving 20 years in the US Army, doing 3 tours of duty in Germany and 1 in Vietnam serving a total of 10 years overseas. After his retirement from the Army he served an additonal 26 years at Fort Gordon as a Civillian and at the time of his Retirement was a Cheif Warrant Officer.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, his sons, and his beloved granddaughter, Savannah.

Funeral services will be private.
