Obituary

Mr. James "Larry" Luckey went home to be with our Lord on December 23, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born on May 25, 1943 in Augusta, GA. Larry's life was distinguished by his service to his country as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, GA; a man of faith, love and integrity. He was shop foreman of Rader VW Mercedes for 21 years. Larry retired as a disabled veteran and was known for his humor, teasing and love of family and all of his animals he loved so much. He was a good friend to many and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to fish and to be outdoors. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Shelia Ann Luckey; sons, Robert Glen Luckey of Grovetown, GA and James Larry Luckey, Jr. of Augusta, GA; daughters, Evelyn Goodspeed of Martinez, GA, and Michelle Banks of Augusta, GA; brothers, George Luckey of Martinez, GA, Jerry Luckey of Martinez, GA, and Ronnie Luckey of Augusta, GA; a sister, Kay Jester of Appling GA; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He left behind his loyal little dog, Gracie, who was his constant companion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Augusta Wounded Warrior Project, 4115 Columbia Rd.
