James "Hunter" Kitchens, 29, of Evans, Georgia, entered into rest on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Hunter graduated from Greenbrier High School in 2015. He attended the North American Lineman Training Center in Tennessee and built a strong career as a lineman with Lee Electrical Construction. Hunter cherished the brotherhood among his crew and found purpose in his work, especially in helping communities recover after storms.
Hunter was devoted to his family. Known for his big heart and selfless nature, he consistently put others before himself. He loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, and was a passionate Georgia Bulldog fan. He could always be counted on to lend his time, skills, and a helping hand to friends and family whenever they needed him. With his infectious humor and warm spirit, he had a natural ability to make anyone feel valued. Simply put, to know Hunter was to love him.
Hunter is survived by his wife, Haley, and sons, John Christian and Cade Randall. He is the son of Ashley Peel Griffin and her husband, Dana Griffin, and James Larry Kitchens, Jr. and his wife, Teresa Moxley Kitchens. Hunter's siblings include Heather Aycox (David), Lauren Harbin (Dykes), John Moxley (Hannah), Josh Griffin (Sam), and Jordan Griffin (Amanda). His grandparents are Beverly and Harry Fuller, and Anna Laura and James “Larry” Kitchens, Sr. He is also remembered by his nieces and nephews, Laylee Ann, Bertram, Ward, and George; his aunt and uncle, Linda and Ed Mickley; and cousins, Macie Raborn (Clayton), and Mindie Wright (Jacob), along with other extended family and friends.
Hunter was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gilbert Peel. His family finds comfort knowing they are now reunited.
Visitation will be held at Thomas L. King Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service led by Reverend Ronnie Faircloth. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance.
Hunter’s co-workers and friends at Lee Electrical will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Let us honor Hunter’s enduring legacy and gather in gratitude for the impact he made on so many lives.
