IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James I.
Delaughter
March 30, 1941 – March 9, 2023
James "Jimmy" I. Delaughter, 81, husband of 54 years to Barbara P. Delaughter, entered into rest on Thursday, March 9th, 2023.
Mr. Delaughter was born on March 30, 1941, to the late George I. Delaughter and Zelpha E. Delaughter. He was a native of Edgefield County, having made North Augusta (Merriwether Community) his home for over 80 years. Mr. Delaughter was a hard worker and was a retired farmer and logger. He was a Baptist. In his younger years, he loved to hunt deer. He was an avid and self-taught guitar player. He loved listening to old gospel and country music. Each year, he loved growing roses and planting various vegetables in his garden. He was especially proud of his grandson, Garrett, who continues to follow in the musical footsteps of his grandfather. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and love of family.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Delaughter; his son, Alex L. Delaughter (Shanon) and Al's children: Garrett, Ashton (Brett), and Brandon; his stepchildren, Anthony Rackard (Cathy) and Terry Rackard and Terry's children: Vanessa, Danielle, and Jennifer; his seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sylvia Scott, Lois Long, Julia Mae Barton, and Lucy Frances Batey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the staff of PruittHealth-Aiken for their care and concern for Jimmy during his stay there.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 18th, 2023, at Sweetwater Baptist Church, 198 Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, South Carolina, with Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to servicetime.
