Mrs. Ikuyo Arai Dewey 79, passed away peacefully Friday, July 14, 2017 at home surrounded by her loved loved ones, she was 79. Born in Yokahama Japan, Ikuyo was the youngest of 13 children and grew up in the hospitality industry being exposed to many different things at a very early age. Ikuyo came to the United States as a teenager, married the love of her life Kenneth Dewey and raised two wonderful children Michael and Richard. Ikuyo was a devoted mother with fierce loyalty and commitment to the development of her sons into fine men. Professionally, Ikuyo managed the kitchen at Brunswick Bowling lanes where she cooked and developed many friendships over the years. Ikuyo enjoyed working with her hands, whether it was at crafts, managing her plants and flowers Ikuyo was always active with her hands, and lived life with a servant's heart. Ikuyo catered many years for the Japaneese golfers that came to Augusta for the Masters. Ikuyo took great pride as she along with her family and friends took care of the cultural and cullinary needs of those who crossed her path. As the years passed, Ikuyo became a grandmother to three wonderful children. Michael and Leann gave Ikuyo, Crystal, Kenneth and Rebecca who turned her life into something incredibly different. With those three around, haircuts, shopping and eating out had a whole new meaning. Ikuyo was kind, compassionate, strong willed, independent, hardworking, and remained devoted to Kenneth. Many years after he passed she remembered him fondly-and never remarried. Ikuyo is preceeded in death by her parents, her 12 siblings, her husband Kenneth, and her son Michael. Ikuyo is survived by her son Rchard (Catherine) of Martinez GA, Daughter in law Denise Dewey of Hephzibah Ga, Grandchildren Crystal, Kenneth and Rebecca of Martinez Ga and great-grandson Michael also of Martinez. Niece Betty Jo (Jerry) Burge of Martinez, Great Nephew Edward Cummings of Greebnville SC and his children Sophia and Carrington. Great Niece Shawndra (Jason) Jenkins and her child Gavyn. The family would like to express its deepest appreciation for the love and care shown to Ikuyo and the family by the staff of Regency Hospice, and a special blessing is asked to be shared with Kody, Maria, Eleanor and Spephen for the outpouring of kindness and work shown as well. Graveside services will be held at Bellvue Cemetary on Wednesday July 19th, 2017 at 10:00AM.
