SFC Henry 'Rip' VanWinkle passed away on March 23, 2024.

He is survived by his wife, Gwyn Yvette Wilson VanWinkle; sisters, Judy VanWinkle Schaeffer (Steve) and Roxie VanWinkle Blakley (Stanley); his sons, Henry VanWinkle II (Ashley), Bobby VanWinkle (fiancé Tammy); stepdaughter Jacque Hughes; stepson Lincoln Hughes (Ericka);15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Rip was a Retired Army veteran that served in Vietnam. During his time as an Airborne Ranger he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze star with Valor.  He made Augusta his home after his retirement from the military and has many friends in the area. He was a Mechanic for many years, where he worked on heavy equipment and race cars with his son. He loved helping others, fishing, camping, cooking and remote controlled boats, cars and airplanes.
