Sgt. Gregory Michael Meagher (57), a 33 year Veteran of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office entered into rest Sunday, February 5, 2017. Sgt. Meagher was born in Cherry Point, NC. to Gregory F. Meagher of Arizona and Josephine Bergman Wasburn of North Augusta, SC. Sgt. Meagher was a member of the Police Benevolent Association of Georgia. He was proud of his Irish Catholic heritage. Sgt. Meagher proudly served the citizens of Richmond County. He was a loving son, father, brother and grandfather. A funeral Mass will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Jacek Szuster Celebrant. Interment will follow will full Law Enforcement Honors at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Daniel Meagher, Michael Meagher, Rick Howard, Bartley Payne, Kyle Michau, Cathy Meagher, Alan Rollins, David Weathers, and Eddie Tibbetts. Sgt. Meagher was preceded in death by a daughter, Erin Tucker. Sgt. Meagher is survived by his father-Gregory F. Meagher (Patricia) of Arizona; his mother-Josephine Bergman Washburn (Terrell) of North Augusta, SC.; 3- daughters, Lindsey Meagher (Nancy Greer) of North Augusta, SC., Maggie, and Emma Meagher (Mary Meagher) of Martinez, GA; 3- brothers, Patrick Meagher of Augusta, GA, Michael Meagher of New Hampshire, and Daniel Meagher of North Augusta, SC; 1-sister, Catherine Meagher of Jacksonville, FL; and a granddaughter, Sydney Tucker; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Melissa Fruit of Augusta, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to Georgia Bank and Trust (Sgt. Greg Meagher Memorial Fund) for his daughters and granddaughter or the Police Benevolent Foundation and Association of Georgia The family will receive friends this evening , February 9, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
