George E. Petrea, Jr. "Bubba", 72, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born on October 17, 1950, in Augusta, GA.

George was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Petrea; stepfather, Harold J. Guy; and his mother, Dorothy H. Guy. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan O. Petrea; children, Travis E. Petrea (Mirenda), George S. Petrea (Ashley), and Stephanie P. Key; sister, Helen P. Huff of Delaware; and his granddaughter, Willa Grace.

George was a plumber and utility contractor who owned and operated his own business for 43 years. He had an impeccable reputation for his abilities, knowledge, honesty, and service.

He enjoyed college football and "old school" NASCAR dirt track, hunting and fishing, skeet shooting, and gathering with friends and family to gossip, eat, and fraternize. He will be missed by all who knew him, and mourned by those who loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in the chapel at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907, with Pastor Wesley Weatherford officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, GA 309063. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
