Mr. John Eugene "Gene" Baker, 82, departed this life to be with his Heavenly Father on August 20, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Sandra Marie Baker; his two children, Selina Marie Baker and Richard (Michelle) Eugene Baker; his grandchildren, Haley Marie Baker and John Christopher Baker.

Mr. Baker was a retired electrician from IBEW 1579 where he served on the E-Board and Apprenticeship Committee. He was an avid hot rod enthusiast and the founder of Columbia County Rod Shop. He was also a member of the Flying Wheels Car Club of Augusta, GA.  He enjoyed coaching senior league baseball and was a member of Central Christian Church. The Family will receive friends at Thomas L King Funeral Home on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Graveside service will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens (4301 Wrightsboro Rd Grovetown, GA 30813) at 10:00 am with Pastor Bart Grey officiating.
