It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Deray Williams, 79, of Martinez, GA. He was born on May 15, 1947 and passed at his home. He was the son of Quinton Deray Williams and Beatrice Carnes Williams of Martinez.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in several locations in the South Pacific. He worked for the Aiken-Bamberg-Barnwell-Edgefield County Library System until he retired. Outside of his career, he was very interested in researching his family history.

He will be remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Beverly Tuttle of Martinez, his children, David Williams of North Augusta and Anne Henderson of Augusta, and his granddaughter, Inara Williams of Martinez. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be private, held with family and close friends. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Augusta Genealogy Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
