IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gail (Cooksey)
Sikes
January 21, 1960 – October 13, 2024
Marla "Gail" Sikes, passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2024. She was born on January 21, 1960, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Marlin Gale and Barbara Jean Cooksey.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 4, 2024 from 6:00 until 7:00 PM at Thomas L. King Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow in the Chapel of the funeral home at 7:00 PM. Gail was preceded in death by her father & mother, Marlin Gale & Barbara Jean Cooksey; her brother, Barry Dean Cooksey; and her husband, Keith Sikes. Gail graduated from Glenn Hills High School in 1979. She went on to start a career in retail services, which she continued for 36 years. It was not until she was 53 years old that she found her true calling as a personal caregiver. She had a passion for taking care of people. Gail's husband, Keith, introduced her to her love of riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. Once Keith passed away, she started riding his bike and rode regularly with her friends, Sherri Barajas & Steven Bryant. They rode regularly, shared laughter, and amazing stories! Gail loved collecting seashells and spent days at the beach enjoying the serene beauty it encompassed. She spent family vacations at the beach with her brother, Tommy, and his family. She would call Cindy Albert, another dear friend, at the drop of a dime and tell her to be ready to hit the road before daylight! By the time she was settling into soaking up a little sun on the beach, Gail was ready to go. She had collected all the seashells she could carry for one trip! Cindy would laugh & convince her to stay just a little longer. She always left with a smile on her face! Gail had a deep love for her family. She lived her entire life putting everyone else first. Be it her parents, brothers, daughter, granddaughters, or great grandsons. They always came first. If they needed anything, she was always there for them. She loved hard and she loved deeply, without reservation. She expected much from them, because she wanted them to live the best life they could live! Gail will be remembered by her daughter, Amanda Gail Brown of Augusta, GA; her brother, Tommy (Pam) Cooksey of Harlem, GA; her granddaughters, Alissa McKenzie & Chelsey Paige Murrell, of Augusta, GA; her great grandsons, Chad Vernon & Braylon Jason Murrell, of Augusta, GA; and many beloved nieces, nephews and close friends. She also leaves behind Murphy, her 12-year-old Jack Russel who is now missing his favorite person. When you think of Gail, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4
