IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floyd W.
Newman
November 18, 1951 – November 16, 2024
It is with the deepest sorrow and so much love that we mourn the passing of Floyd W. Newman on Saturday the 16th of November, 2024, at the age of 72.
Born in Wilkes County, Floyd was the youngest of 8 brothers and sisters and the only child of Margaret and Pierce who was born in a hospital. He was a handful from the very beginning. He was an Army veteran, a supervisor at Graniteville Company, an awesome auto mechanic, and a graduate of Augusta Technical College. Floyd worked hard for the majority of his life. He was quick with the comebacks, loved fast cars - especially his 65 and 67 Pontiac GTOs and 74 Pontiac Firebird, and he loved his truck "Big Red".
Floyd is preceded in death by his Mama, Margaret Malone; Daddy, Pierce V. Newman; brothers, Buster, Jake, and Ray; sisters, Josephine "Jo", Lois, and Demps; dogs, Finny, Jake, Suzie, Bear, Bell, Sam, Grunt, Smokey, Amos... the list can go on and on, but they said to keep this short and sweet. HE LOVED HIS DOGS.
Floyd leaves behind his wonderful sister, Paulette Newman of Tallahassee, Florida, who held his hand to the very end and last breath; so many nephews and a couple of nieces, including Lori "Skeeter" Newman and her husband Forrest Odom who were blessed to have spent so much time with Floyd during the last few years of his life as his caregivers.
A special thank you to nephew David Cawley for all of the care, love, Wifesaver biscuits, and beers that he has shared with Floyd.
The family would like to acknowledge the ICU staff and Dr. Jet of AU (Wellstar MCG), and the IR team at the Augusta downtown VA (2nd floor). We thank you so very much for your care and empathy. We are grateful beyond measure.
The family will have a celebration of Floyd's life to be announced at a later date.
We love you, Floyd.
