IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Charles
Kneeland, Jr.
August 6, 1944 – November 10, 2024
Edward Charles Kneeland Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at the age of 80. Known for his quick wit, big heart, and boundless generosity, Ed lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Born on August 6, 1944, at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia, Ed grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin School in Cambridge. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego, and later received his master's degree in the same field from San Diego State College.
In 1963, Ed began a six-year service in the United States Navy, proudly serving aboard the USS Lawrence (DDG-4) until 1969. That same year, he met the love of his life, Sandra, and the two were married on June 12, 1971. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership.
Ed had a vibrant and magnetic personality—spontaneous, adventurous, and sharp as a tack. He had a great sense of humor and was a master storyteller who could bring a smile to anyone's face. He loved cooking (especially lobster and steak), golfing, bowling, sailing, camping, reading, watching sports, and traveling. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—box wine, chocolate candies, and sharing good meals with the people he loved.
He will be remembered most for his humor, kindness, and generosity. Ed had a unique ability to make people feel welcome and valued, and he touched many lives as a devoted husband, proud dad, loyal brother, and fun-loving uncle and friend.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Frances (McCluskey) and Edward Charles Kneeland Sr.; his uncle Bernard Kneeland; his aunt Katherine Inglis; cousin Don Inglis; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sandra Kneeland; his children: Edward Charles "Chip" Kneeland III (wife: Kathleen) and Megan McLemore (wife: Heather); his brother, James Kneeland (wife: Fran); Sister-in-law Deborah Dennis and Brother-in-law Dean Dennis; nieces and nephews: Seamus Kneeland (wife Lauren), Shannon Kneeland Toland (husband: Craig), Lauren Lenihan (husband: Richard), and Shelby Lominac (husband: Chad); and many cherished grandnieces and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, where Ed received compassionate care:
