Dorothy Mae Marion, 87, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Dorothy was born in Garfield, Georgia, on March 16, 1936. She was the oldest of eight children, and she often took care of her younger siblings. Dorothy raised five daughters and often cared for several of her grandchildren. She was an excellent and passionate cook, and she took pride in keeping an immaculate and beautiful home. Gardening and yardwork brought her joy.

Although we are devastatingly heartbroken, we take comfort in knowing that Dorothy knew she was loved, appreciated, and celebrated.

Dorothy is preceded in death by two of her daughters, Connie Gilpin and Cathy Brown; her parents, Louise Suddeth and James Kay; her three brothers, Bobby, Billy, and Richard (Kay); her four sisters, Jimmie Gonnella, Hazel Seise, Shirl Kay, and Helen Kay; and one great-great-grandchild. Survivors include three of her daughters, Sabrina (Jerry) Chitty, Angela (Bobby) Chitty, and Gina Marion; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, GA 30906, with Pastor Mickey Huff officiating.
