Obituary

Dorothy Myers Watkins, 75, passed away peacefully on August 29th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Dotty was born in Augusta, Georgia, on September 24, 1950. She spent most of her life in Evans, Georgia. Dotty devoted her life to caring for her family. She worked in Lab management at Medical College of Georgia in the early 1970s, and later as a convenience store clerk, where she had many “regulars” who knew her well. Her most important jobs though were Momma, Nana, sister, Aunt and friend. She was known for her determination, quick wit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome at her kitchen table.

Dotty loved reading, cooking and feeding people and cheering on her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheralyn Wheeler (Kenny) and Leslie (Michael) Cartledge of Evans; two grandchildren, Justin (Yami) Wheeler (Ludowici, GA) and Linzie Wheeler (Philadelphia, PA); one great grandchild, Jonah Wheeler; and her sister, Sally Aenchbacher as well as countless nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Meagan and Husband, Chuck Watkins.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at King Funeral Home on Davis Road in Martinez, GA and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 4th, 2026, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens in Grovetown, GA.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made to the Georgia Cancer Center.

Her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
