Donald Edward Cawley, 74, died in the comfort of his home in Evans, GA on August 27th, 2022. He was born on April 18, 1948, in Augusta, GA, and raised in the Harrisburg area. He was a 1968 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County where he loved playing football. He worked at the Carpet Factory Outlet and sold insurance. He was co-owner of Bob and Donald Amoco and Bob and Donald Shell gas stations. He worked for Cablevision and Jones Intercable. He then, with a partner, went into home rentals, coin-operated car washes, and they later owned Top-Notch Car Washes. Most recently, he owned Rock N' Wash Auto Spa. Family members include his children, Ashley C. Young (Michael) of Grovetown, GA, Travis E. Cawley (Corena) of Evans, GA, Tammie C. Jennings (Douglas Hudson) of Martinez, GA, James Phillip Buck, Jr., and Stefanie Basinger (Todd) of Evans, GA; His grandchildren, William Rabb (Savannah), Joshua Buck (Allison), Andrew Rabb, Kaitlyn Kosal (Dominic), Brooke Buck, Sydney Urban (Luke-Avery), Nicholas Young, Connor Jennings, Grant Cawley, Parker Basinger, Chandler Cawley, Reese Basinger, Meghan Jennings, Maura Cawley, Odynn Cawley, and Finn Jennings; seven great-grandchildren, and two more on the way. His special aunts, Vera C. Walker and Martha Cawley; many close cousins, and his loving girlfriend of many years, Patti Shirey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward D. and Ruby Jenkins Cawley; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He stepped in as a brother, father, and grandfather to many people over the years. Just to name a few, Tommy Weathersbee, Sara Harris, MiKaela Harris, Joseph Shirey (Heather), Camden Shirey, and Reagan Shirey. He was a very happy man who never met a stranger. He appreciated and loved getting to greet his many customers at the carwashes. He enjoyed working on his yard and lakefront, as well as riding his golf cart through the neighborhood with roxy. He also really enjoyed trips to casinos and hosting the daily "Silverlake Neighborhood Happy Hour". He will be greatly missed by many. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907. A Memorial service will be officiated by Gene Hollins and will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, at Mann-Mize United Methodist Church, 2705 Milledgeville Rd, Augusta, GA 30904.
