It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David R. Taylor aka Rockstar, who departed this life on September 21, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

David was born on May 7, 1948, in Augusta, Georgia, to Sara Sanders Taylor and Clarence Carroll Taylor. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to those he held dear.

David spent his career working as a grocery store manager for Pantry Pride, Gurley's, and IGA.

He was a devoted husband to Cheryl Taylor, and a loving father to Brian Taylor, Adrienne Carter, Angela McDowell, and Joshua Taylor. He was preceded in death by his son Michael McDowell, his parents Sara and Clarence Taylor, his sister Cynthia Drake, and is also remembered by his brother-in-law Barry Drake.

David will be remembered for his warm heart, easygoing nature, and the joy he brought to those around him. He had a passion for karaoke, a love for the game of golf, and was a die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan, proudly cheering on his team every season.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl and his children Brian, Adrienne, Angela, and Joshua. He also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Wesley Taylor, Seth Carter, Hollie Carter, Dakota Haley and his wife Brittanie, Peyton Stanley, and Camden Spears. His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren: Kadence and Raina.

A funeral service will be held on October 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, located at 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Georgia Cancer Center, in honor of David's memory and strength.

David's life was a gift to all who knew him. His laughter, loyalty, and love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
