David Earl Smith Jr., 70, of Evans, passed away on September 9, 2024.

David was a lifelong area resident, and the owner of David Smith Construction, a thriving business that he built from nothing. David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was named Mr. Clarks Hill in 2013 and named a Clarks Hill Legend. David was an avid supporter of youth fishing and even helped create the Mr. Clarks Hill Jr. tournament. In addition to his support of youth fishing any charity that would help children held a special place in his heart, including helping with Toys for Tots. David loved all of his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents, David Earl Smith Sr., and Betty Smith; and his wife, Annette Smith.

Survivors include his children, Holley Pendergrast (Steven), and David E. Smith III (Jenny); his brothers, Carl Smith and Byron Smith; 7 grandchildren, Dana, Lauren, Brooke, Jack, Belle, Davis and Blair; and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas L. King Funeral Home with Rev. Caleb Meeks officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tommy Nelson, Jared Mimmie, Robert Harper, Allen Odom, Joe Carswell, and Eric Mora.
