David Lavaughn Godbee, 69, entered into rest on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

David is preceded in death by his father, Harold Godbee, Sr.. Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Charlene Godbee; beloved daughter, Brecklyn Godbee; mother, Shirley Peel Godbee; brother, Harold Dennis Godbee II and his wife Donna G.; nephew, Harold "Tripp" Dennis Godbee III; niece, Marggee McGraw; niece, Nealie A.; nephew, Clayton Davis Godbee; and many friends and extended family.

David was a business owner for many years (B and R Company), and he loved to play golf and was very proud to work at the Masters Tournament. David was a dedicated artist, and his talent and creativity shine through his paintings. He loved to read, and he was known to carry a book with him wherever he went. David really enjoyed talking to people, and he never met a stranger. He had a brilliant memory and could remember anything. He loved to travel, and was especially fond of his memories painting and studying under Jim Lyle in Paris and Amsterdam. He recently dedicated his time and immersed himself in his service as a juror. David overcame so much during his time here. He defied the odds twice through the help of the Walton Community, who were his biggest support in his rehabilitation. A member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church since 2004, he loved the devotion to the Rosary and he was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. David was most proud of his family. He was very devoted, loving, and supportive of Charlene, and his and Charlene's only child, Brecklyn Christian, and he made sure to see his mother every weekend.
