Obituary

Our loving father, husband, and brother in Christ, Cole Washington Cooper, Jr., 89, went home to glory on Monday, October 2nd, 2023.

Mr. Cooper was born in Wrens, Ga, and lived in several different counties in the area growing up until he moved to Columbia County, where he resided for the last almost 70 years on Cooper Rd in Grovetown. Mr. Cooper worked in the HVAC industry for a total of 56 years (Bo Hardy 1954-1967, Sig Cox 1967-1997, and Silver Sheet Metal 1997-2010) before retiring in 2010. After retirement, Mr. Cooper cared for his wife, Marilyn, who suffered from Alzheimer's till her death in 2020.

Mr. Cooper had many, many friends and enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to old country music, and bream fishing anywhere and everywhere, but his favorite place by far was Edisto River.

Today he suffers no more, and we know he is walking in the garden with the Lord and will never feel pain or sadness again. We can go on knowing he is happy and that we will see him again one day.

Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, Cole Washington Cooper Sr. and Ruby Cooper; his loving wife of 68 years, Marilyn Cooper; brother, Doug Cooper; and his son, Gary Lee Cooper Sr.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his daughter, Carole Campbell (Travis); his son, Michael D. Cooper; five grandchildren, Gary Lee Cooper Jr (Suzanne), Falon Cooper Wren (Warren), Jeremy Pearson (Stacie), Devon Campbell, and Emma Cooper; seven great-grandchildren, Spencer Cooper, Gary Lee Cooper III, Rainey Cooper, Stormy Cooper, BreAnne Page, Madilyn Wren, and Summer Pearson; and five great-great-grandchildren, Alan Cooper, Paisley Cooper, Bristol Cooper, CaliRay Cooper, and Leighton Cooper.

Cryptside funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown GA 30813, with Rev. Jerry Pitman and Pastor David Brooks officiating.
