Mrs. Clara "Nell" Horne Byrd, 77, beloved wife of the late Robert V. Byrd, entered into rest at The Place at Martinez on Sunday, October 22, 2017. Mrs. Byrd was born in Augusta, GA to the late Sammie M. and Gladys Lively Horne. She was a long time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, was a certified EMT, and had also worked for Advance Auto. Mrs. Byrd was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Mrs. Byrd is survived by 2 sons, Mark Matthews of Douglas, GA and Sammie Mack Byrd of Thomson, GA; 3 daughters, Kim Matthews Lowe (Randy) of McCormick, SC, Frankie Matthews Wright (James) of Evans, GA, and Paula Byrd Payne (Gary) of Evans, GA; she also raised her grandchild, Magan Burke (Eric) of Thomson as her own; 2 sisters, Carolyn Childers of Waynesboro, GA and Sammye Doolittle (Sammy) of Thomson, GA; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, October 25, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Thomas L.
