Ms. Gloria Christine Thurmond Poss, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her children on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

Christine was born September 25, 1938, to Mr. Tolbert Wellington and Mrs. Myrtle Maybell Thurmond. A lifetime resident of Augusta, GA, Christine raised two wonderful children and had a very successful and rewarding career in the nursing field under the late Dr. Thomas E. Bailey, Sr. and the late Dr. William N. Agostas. Christine was a faithful, lifelong member of Central Christian Church and served selflessly with the Helping Hands and Golden Age Ministries for as long as she was physically able. She loved to travel the world with her daughter and was always up for a church bus trip with her son behind the wheel. On any given day, you could find Christine in her yard on her riding mower, at the Dollar Tree, or at a Greenjackets game with her best friend, the late Mrs. Mary O'Tyson. Her family was her pride and joy, and no one loved them more than she did.

Christine is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Foster; son, Lance Poss; granddaughters, Whitney Poss (Emilee) and Kristen Lowe (Brad); niece, Yvette Dement; four great-grandchildren, Savanna, Mason, Avery, and Olivia Lowe; and beloved family at heart, Dorothy Hill and Monty Pittman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tolbert and Myrtle Thurmond; her son, Philip Andrew Poss; sisters, Mary Ann Proveaux (Russell) and R. Juanita Summerall (Milton); and one brother, Edward Scott Thurmond.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16th from 6pm-7pm followed by a brief Celebration of Life at 7pm at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Helping Hands and Golden Age Ministries at Central Christian Church, 220 Crawford Ave, Augusta, GA 30904.
