Cheryl Lawler Stewart of Martinez, Georgia, was welcomed into her Heavenly Father’s mansion on March 12, 2026. Born to Samuel Raymond Lawler SR and Ethel Loraine (Grantham) Lawler February 8th, 1946, in Griffin, GA. Cheryl graduated from Griffin High. It was at Griffin High that she met her husband of 45 years, Ira Douglas Stewart (deceased). Together they raised two sons that she cherished dearly and always put their needs above her own. Cheryl also considered every friend of her sons like one of her own and loved them dearly. She carried a motherly instinct throughout her life that made her a protector and provider for everyone she loved, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cheryl had a calling for being a childcare provider and did so for nearly 30 years in Martinez. She nurtured many children through their early years and loved each of them as her own. Her nurturing spirit made her a beloved part of many families. Cheryl was an active member of Martinez Baptist Church.
Cheryl is survived by her sons Scott Stewart (Lynda) and Jason Stewart (Beth). Surviving grandchildren are Jacob Stewart (Natalie), Brandyn Roberson, Casey Stewart, Brent Roberson (Chastity), Harley Carter (Jason), Baylee Roberson (Alliegh), and Brice Stewart. She also leaves behind 8 great grandchildren, the last being born March 9th, 2026. Surviving sister Jan Helton (Griffin, Ga). Cheryl also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her mother, father, and brother Sonny Lawler.
Cheryl’s legacy is that of a believer with a servant’s heart teaching others how to love. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and the many children whose lives she helped shape.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 28th, 2026 at Martinez Baptist Church, 3632 River Watch Parkway Martinez GA 30907. Visitation will be from 10am until 11am and a Memorial Service will follow 11am.
