Charles (Chuck) Wesley Lambert passed peacefully, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, surrounded by his devoted wife and three loving children.
He was born on January 7, 1953 in Illinois, where he spent his formative and adolescent years. He entered the Army during the Viet Nam era soon after high school. After 10 years in the service, he received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Sargeant First Class.
Following his Army service, Chuck settled in Augusta, Georgia. He spent the next 10 years at Augusta Newsprint before leaving to finish his Bachelor's degree.
He received the Biology Student of the year award from Augusta State University in 1997 and graduated that same year with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Upon graduation, Chuck embarked on a 20-year ichthyology research project at St. Katherine's Island off the coast of Georgia. This was under the direction of Dr. Bruce Saul and involved cataloging and collecting data on area fishes. He also garnered a by line during the course of the study.
Chuck was a faithful member of the Martinez Group for over thirty years. He served as the DCM for District 12. In addition, he was the Communications Chair at General Assembly for four years.
He was a member of the Pinetucky Gun Club, where he enjoyed skeet and trap shooting, several times a week, health permitting. Chuck was an avid fan of Formula 1 Racing. He loved working on cars and at the time of his death was working on restoring a 1940 American Bantam. He had an innate ability to fix anything mechanical and was often referred to as "MacGyver."
Chuck will best be remembered for his wisdom and ability to listen. He believed strongly in giving back. He was a kind and gentle man, with an inner strength that attracted many.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sherri, his daughter, Erika (Mike) and sons, Ryan (Keighlee) and Wesley (Rebecca,) 7 beautiful grandchildren plus a of host of friends. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Evan Lambert, his twin brother, Robert and older sister, Lana.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the St Jude Children's Foundation or the Police Benevolent Foundation.
The family will receive friends for a celebration of life visitation Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Rd. Martinez GA, 30907. A memorial service will be held Martinez Methodist Church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
