Carmen Virgil Ray, known to many as "Poncho", passed away on November 2, 2025.
He was a lifelong Augusta native and a 1966 graduate of George P. Butler High School. He was a retired pipefitter. Poncho enjoyed a good joke always ready for a laugh and to tease people. He also liked to watch old western movies and television shows. He was an avid book reader and being of the Christian faith read his bible nightly. He was a gentle kind and outgoing man and will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Edna Ray; his wife, Kathleen Moulton; and his great grandchild, Emma Hargrove.
Survivors include his son, Randall Ray; the mother of his son, Tomasita Ray; his grandchild, Kayla Hargrove; great grandchildren, Eric Wood and Emberlyn Hargrove; siblings, Carmel Schlamp, Conda Momcilovic (Rodney) and Duane Ray (Cathy); aunt, Vivian Shue Gibson; uncle, Robert "Bob" Ray (Hilda), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
The family will have a private celebration of life at later time.
