Brenda Irene Ice, 84, of North Augusta entered into eternal rest March 23, 2025, after an extended illness.
She is survived by husband Ernest Wrenn of the home, sons Steve McDaniel, Scott (and wife Cindy) McDaniel, and Mike McDaniel; also granddaughters Kris Dooley, Jennifer Clements and Marissa McDaniel; and grandson Corey McDaniel. She also is survived by six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by grandson Jeremy McDaniel and ex-husband and father of her sons Gene McDaniel.
Brenda was born January 31, 1941, in Phoenix, Arizona. She spent the majority of her life in South Carolina, growing up and attending high school in Barnwell prior to marriage and relocation to North Augusta in the early 1960s. As her three sons grew up, Brenda could frequently be found at local ball fields supporting them and their endless pursuits of all things sports.
Besides raising her boys, Brenda assisted her mother-in-law, Margaret McDaniel, in running the regional World Book Encyclopedia sales office in North Augusta. She also worked for several years in the banking industry, helping found the Farmers and Merchants branch in North Augusta. Later, she ran office operations for Wrenn Heating and Air for many years.
Brenda was well known for her love of all of God's creatures, and in her later years, particularly for those injured and in need of rehabilitation and re-release into the wild. She frequently nursed back to health possums, squirrels, turtles, birds and even small deer and was a trusted source of knowledge when others around the Southeast needed help or guidance in treating injured wildlife.
Brenda was the heart and soul of her family, hosting holiday gatherings and other celebrations for decades. She brought a genuine warmth and love to all of those cherished gatherings and her absence will be keenly felt when time comes for future family events.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Crescent Hospice of North Augusta, who were an invaluable source of medical and emotional support and care for Brenda and her family during her final months.
Memorials in Brenda's honor can be made to any Augusta-area animal shelter or rescue organization.
