Mrs. Betty Newman Smith, 82, of Grovetown, entered into rest on April 3, 2024.

Betty was a longtime resident of Grovetown and a retired beautician. She enjoyed cooking, baking and dancing. She also delighted in quilting, crocheting, and traveling to the beach. Her family was most important to her as she loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Smith; parents, Lindsey and Frances Newman; son, Ralph Howard; brothers, Wayne and Bobby Newman; and sisters, Claudine Reese, Dorothy Tippins, and Mildred Brown.

Survivors include her children, Dee Decker, Shari Fitchett, and Regina Robinson; brothers, Curtis Newman and Larry Newman; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4501 Wrightsboro Rd. Grovetown, GA 30813, with Rev. Frank Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the Bellevue Chapel. Pallbearers will be Brian Newman, Travis Newman, Lindsey Brown, Tim Hardin, Brian Doyle, and Adam Ludwig.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
