Betty Newman Kinney, born on October 31, 1944, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026. She was a cherished matriarch, devoted to her family and known as the biggest fan and best grandmother and great-grandmother one could ever wish for. Betty’s life was a testament to her unwavering love and support for her loved ones, always encouraging them in their endeavors and celebrating their achievements.
Betty held many passions and interests that brought joy not only to her life but also to those around her. She greatly enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid crocheter. Additionally, Betty was celebrated for her exceptional culinary skills. Her delicious food, particularly her famous cornbread dressing and potato salad, became beloved staples at family gatherings.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Kinney, and her children: Lori A. Brown (Tony), James H. Blackwell III (Eddye), Charles D. Blackwell, Lisa M. Jones, David A. Blackwell, Jason R. Blackwell (Christi), Stephen A. Blackwell Sr., Asure D. Fulton (Jimmy), and Jessica L. Galamb (Chris); 27 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Betty also leaves behind her siblings, Linda Mullins (Bill) and Merritt Newman III (Becky), who will forever hold her memory dear.
The family will recieve friends for visitation on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thomas L. King Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held the following day on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Bellevue Memorial Gardens on Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown, GA 30813. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Adam Blackwell, James Blackwell IV, Kendall Carrigan, Mike Clark, Jimmy Fulton Jr, Patrick Milligan Jr, Jonathan Peckham, Trey Tullis, Adam Whitaker, and Tobey Woods.
Betty’s spirit will continue to influence and inspire all who knew her, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
