Mrs. Barbara Joan Grammer Whitaker, 86, wife of the late Ret. U.S. Air Force TSgt Jessie  Gordon Whitaker, Sr. of Harlem, entered into rest on March 8, 2021. A small family and  friend visitation will be at Thomas L. King Funeral Home Friday March 12, 2021 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM and followed by a small graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 12:00 PM.

Mrs. Whitaker was born in Augusta on October 14, 1934 and was the daughter of the late  Harley Stanley and Maude Grammer of Augusta. Survivors include her children: Jessie  Gordon Whitaker, Jr. and Wanda Griffiths, Roy Stanley Whitaker, Donna Emmaline  Whitaker and Richard Duncan, Leonard Lewis Whitaker, and Della Faye Whitaker; her 15  grandchildren Geoffrey and Victoria Griffiths, Traci and Jay Hollingsworth, Candace  Whitaker, Angela and Terry Taylor, William Duncan, Jenna Duncan, Christopher Duncan, Joseph Whitaker, Rebecca and  David Powell Sr, and Marybeth and James Meuse; her 15 great-grandchildren, Hayden  Whitaker, Troy Hollingsworth, Rachel Hollingsworth, Michael Hollingsworth, Dustin  Whitaker, Travis Griffin, Olivia Taylor, Sophia Taylor, Hailey Whitaker, Haven Whitaker,  Makayla Powell, David Powell Jr, Jimmy Meuse, Jamie Meuse, and Gary Meuse; and her  very dear and life-long friend Mrs. Margie Davis and her family.

She was a very caring, loving and unselfish person. Nothing was more important to her than  her family and friends. She was the glue that held this family together through the good  times and the bad. She was greatly loved and appreciated and will be greatly missed.
