Mrs. Barbara Alford Meadows Augusta, GA - Mrs. Barbara Alford Meadows (96) after an extended illness, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2022.

She was born in New Haven, England. She was the eighth child of Frederick and Amy Speed. She had six brothers and three sisters. Her family moved to Edmonton, Alberta, then moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. Barbara moved to the United States in 1941 and became a US citizen in 1945. She was a member of Warren Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years and founded the Gleaners Class in 1984. She retired from WGAC Radio Station and University Hospital. Barbara was very active in raising her children: grammar school PTA, boy scouts, bible school, girl's auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and traveling.

She is preceded in death by husbands, LTC Douglas L. Alford and Lewis L. Meadows;  and son, Bruce L. Alford. Survivors include her children, Robert D. Alford (Gail), Houston, TX, Barbara Lynn Klint (Phil), Aiken SC, Karen A. Luckey (George), Martinez, GA, and Mitchell D. Meadows (Sharon), Akron, NY;  grandchildren, Artura Riley (Rory), Daniel Klint (Robin), and Ashley Klint (Kelly Smith); and great-granddaughter, Deklyn Smith.

Robert, Karen, and Mitch deeply thank their sister, Lynn, for the excellent care she gave our Mother for 11 years. The family thanks Kindred Hospice for their care and support. Graveside services will be held on Thursday,  July 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, GA 30904
