Mrs. Anna R Newman, 90, of Martinez, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on July 28, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of over 60 years, Mr. Donald Lee Newman, their children Patti Ann Newman and Donald M. Newman, and granddaughter, Jennifer Keck.

Affectionately known as "Nanny", she was born on October 8, 1934, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to the late Nathan and Rose Tobin. She was one of 4 children, whom all preceded her in death except her beloved sister, Mairlyn.

Shortly after high school, she met and married Don, the love of her life. Together, they followed his career in the U.S. Army before settling in Martinez, Georgia, where they lovingly raised four children: Patti, Donnie, Brian, and Wendy.

In 1996, Nanny retired from the Georgia Department of Labor. She spent her retirement years surrounded by her grandchildren, enjoying books and puzzles, and spending time with her sister. Her greatest quality was sharing love with everyone around her. Known for her warmth and generosity, she was a Nanny to many; always comforting, always joyful, and always caring for those she loved.

Nanny leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Brian (Vanessa) Newman of Martinez, GA; Wendy (Hap) Arthur of North Augusta, SC; her sister, Mairlyn Sirbaugh, Richmond, VA; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and as well a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Thomas L. King Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Richard Thigpen officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
