Ann Cromer Sanford, born in Augusta, GA, October 23, 1939, passed away January 22, 2024 at Doctors Hospital.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard; parents, Toby and Trilby Cromer; and a brother, Hal Cromer. She is survived by 3 children, Gerard Sanford, III, Ann Marie Marshall, and Patricia Sanford; a granddaughter, Jamie Marshall-Franklin (Kevin); and a sister, Susan Johnson (Mike).
She taught High School English and Spanish in Augusta for many years and enjoyed encountering former students who introduced their children to Mrs./Senora Sanford.
Ann joined the Catholic Church while attending UGA. She was a member of St.Teresa of Avila in Grovetown for over 20 years, volunteering as usher and a member of CCW. There she found dear friends and joined a 'Hand & Foot' group that met every week for food, fellowship, and serious card play.
Ann was a devoted daughter who took excellent care of her mother, who passed away in Ann's home at 101 years old in 2016. She was an exceptional mother and grandmother, attending every school event and life milestone of her family. She was a loyal friend and a devout Catholic, generous with her time, talent, and charity. May she hear her Lord say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!"
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 4:00 - 5:30pm on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez GA 30907, immediately followed by a rosary service at 5:30pm in the chapel at Thomas L. King Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown GA 30813, with Father Chris Hassel officiating.
