Amy Marcia Gibson, of Augusta Georgia, 74, beloved mother and grandmother entered into rest on Thursday, June 13th, 2024. Born in Augusta Georgia on November the 20th, 1949 ,she was the daughter of the late John T. and Imogene Gibson.
She was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1969. After graduation, she immediately went to work in Civil Service at Fort Gordon. Later she transferred to the Nursing Department at the Veterans Administration Hospital and served as admin assistant until she retired.
When her daughter, Tiffany G. Redfern was born, Amy Marcia was delighted to give her parents their only grandchild. Her parents thought the sun rose and set in Tiffany, just like her Mother.
When daughter Tiffany married James Redfern in 2012, Amy got her bonus grandson, Jacob Redfern, whom she adored. In 2015, Tiffany's 1st son, Cooper Redfern, was born and Amy Marcia, along with her mother, Imogene, moved from Fair Play, SC to Augusta. Amy Marcia committed her daily life to keeping Cooper. Cooper named her "Ga Ga!"
5 years later her final grandson, Cody Redfern was born. Amy Marcia spent her remaining years dedicated to her daughter and her grandchildren.
Amy Marcia was preceded in death by her mother, Imogene W. Gibson; and her father, John T. Gibson. She is survived by her sister, Janet C. Gibson; daughter, Tiffany G. Redfern (James Redfern); and her grandsons, Jacob Redfern, Cooper Redfern, and Cody Redfern.
Her wish was to be cremated and no service is planned at this time. Memorial contributions maybe made to the Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org/sc ).
She will be greatly missed.
