Obituary

Allen Parham passed away on September 12, 2026.

Allen Douglas Parham Sr. was born December 19, 1939, in Augusta, Georgia, to Daisy Dell Morgan and George Washington Parham Jr. He spent much of his childhood in Savannah, where the work ethic that would define his life began remarkably early. At just six years old, Allen was already shining shoes and learning the value of an honest day's work.

He eventually made his home in Evans, Georgia, where he built a life centered around hard work, good food, and, above all else, family. For 53 years, he shared that life with his wife, Kaye Cherie Coley Parham.

Allen was truly a jack of all trades—and there seemed to be very little he couldn't do. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, raced cars, rode motorcycles, worked in HVAC, operated his own gas station, and possessed the rare ability to fix just about anything that was broken. Eventually, however, he found his professional calling in the automobile business.

For 35 years, Allen was a dedicated member of the Bob Richards Chevrolet family, serving over the course of his career as a salesman, General Manager, and, for many years, Finance Manager. Intelligent, hardworking, and exceptionally good at reading people—whether across a desk or across a poker table—Allen excelled throughout his career.

But for all the things he was good at, his true passion was cooking.

Few things made him happier than preparing a home-cooked meal and having his family gathered together to enjoy it. For Allen, food was more than something placed on a table; it was one of the ways he brought the people he loved together.

And nothing mattered more to him than those people.

Allen devoted his life to his six children: Doug Parham, Barry Parham (Lynn), Lisa Parham, Morgan Parham (Katy), Amber Bentley (John), and Haley Dooley. He dearly loved his fifteen grandchildren: Trey, Rebekah, Brady, Whitney, Tiffany, Brittany, Correy, Evan, Annabelle, Eli, Scarlett, Presley, Ryder, Charlie, and Matthew; and he was immensely proud of his nine great-grandchildren.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy Dell Morgan and George Washington Parham Jr.; his sister, Virginia Jones; and his brother, Bobby Parham. He is survived by his brother, Billy Parham (Jean), as well as his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who were blessed to share his life.

Allen was a man of remarkable intellect, generosity, ingenuity, and tireless work ethic. He could race a car, repair what was broken, build a career, read a poker face, cook a meal worth gathering for, and somehow always find time to watch the ballgame—or whatever sport, activity, or event one of his children or grandchildren happened to be participating in.

Allen was assured of his salvation and knew where he would spend eternity. Yet perhaps his greatest testimony could be seen in the lives of the children and grandchildren he loved so dearly. They were his pride, his legacy, and the lasting evidence of a life devoted to family.

Over the course of his life, Allen Douglas Parham Sr. answered to many beloved names: husband, Dad, Daddy, Granddaddy, and Papa.

But to most who knew and loved him, he was simply Pops.
