Entered into rest on November 17, 2018, Mr. Albert Louis Tankersley Jr., husband of Mrs. Dolores Logan Tankersley of Martinez, Ga. Albert was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. "Granddy" as he was called by his grandchildren was an amazing husband, daddy and granddaddy. Albert was born November 19, 1932 the only child to the late Albert Sr. and Mary Tankersley. Albert was born in Cherokee, Alabama. In 1939 Albert and his parents settled in Columbia County, Ga. Albert graduated from Richmond Academy in 1951. He married his wife of 66 years, Dolores Logan Tankersley on October 15, 1952. The early years of their marriage Albert was in the U.S. Navy. He then began his career in the insurance business owning Tankersley Insurance until his retirement 5 years ago. Albert and Dolores spent time doing one of Albert's passions traveling.
Albert was a true family man who enjoyed his life with Dolores and their three children. His son A. Louis Tankersley, III (Cathy) and his two daughters, Lorna Tankersley Beasley (Randy), Helen Tankersley Coursey (Mitchell).
Albert was a faithful member of Warren Baptist Church. He was a member of the Columbia County Game & Fish Club, a former member of the Columbia County Exchange Club, Merchants Association of Columbia County, Gideons International and co-founder of Martinez/Evans Little League.
"Granddy's" grandchildren are Joel Sanders (Kristin), Christopher Tankersley (Hannah), Leigh Coursey Slagle (Evan), Benji Sanders, Andrew Tankersley, Toby Sanders, Shelby Sanders Conner (Matt) and Devin Coursey and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his grandson Thomas Mitchell Coursey, Jr. and a granddaughter Linzi Coursey Lowe and son-in-law Bodie Sanders.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Pastor Dave Dillard officiating. The family would like to invite you to celebrate the life of this wonderful man from 10:30 A.M until 12:00 P.M. at Thomas L. King Funeral Home prior to the service.
